An Inspiring Hike to Help Prevent Breast Cancer

Our Beautycounter community never fails to impress us with its dedication to making the world a better place. Just take this story of one of our Consultants, Christine Stoker Figueroa, who recently climbed Mount Shasta in the name of cancer prevention.

The Breast Cancer Fund is one of our three Trusted Non-Profit partners, as well as one of the few non-profit organizations dedicated to preventing breast cancer before it starts. This year, Christine participated in BCF’s annual Mount Shasta fundraiser, Climb Against the Odds, a powerful and emotional experience for all who are involved. Two years after her own personal bout with ovarian cancer, prevention was a personal concept to Christine and her family. Because of Beautycounter’s partnership with the Breast Cancer Fund and her general taste for adventure, Christine thought this was the perfect confluence of her passions and interests.

“I love the Breast Cancer Fund’s focus on cancer prevention,” Christine shared with us. “I want to build awareness about what prevention means. For me the hike was about taking action—not just saying I was going to do something. It was about getting out there and doing it.”

As a result of the hike, Christine raised over $6,300 for the Breast Cancer Fund’s work. This is yet another example of how our Beautycounter community is making a positive impact—and we couldn’t be more proud.

You can participate and donate to the Breast Cancer Fund HERE. From now through October 11, 2015, Beautycounter will match all donations, up to $25,000.
